Diwali

This year I participated in a cultural festival called Diwali in Lynnfield in term 3. For the Indians it is a festival of lights. Even though I’m not an Indian I decided to participate in this. I was in the year nine dance, dancing with 7 more of year nines.  We danced to a remix of 3 songs (Indian songs). I like dancing especially bollywood dancing so I knew dancing is the only thing that can make me have a great time and other people have a great time while watching the dance.

At first it was very uncomfortable having to know 7 different new year nines, but than we had no choice so we worked hard on our dance and actually did a pretty good job of it. As a team we had to choose our songs and choreograph it ourselves , well we did get a little help from the year thirteen’s to start of but than we finished it ourselves. Even though the Diwali show was in term 3, we started practising in term 2.

In the actual Diwali show I was nervous that something would go wrong but actually everything was absolutely fine. In fact the school hall was decorated and all the people who came were dressed really culturally and looked shiny.

Participating in this was a very good experience and it really helped me to make new friends. Dancing in the Diwali show was one of the best memories I’ll ever have and dancing with the others was even fun because most of the time we all mucked around and had a lot of fun. I am sure I’ll participate in this next year.
